London, England:

London is the largest and capital city of England. It is situated on the Thames River. The city is one of the most visited and most expensive in the world. It has one of the busiest airports in the world and has a diverse range of people and cultures. Some popular sites to see include Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, The British Museum, The Town of London, Tate Modern, Tower Bridge.

Top 3 Things to do in London:

  1. Free walking tour(s) – London has so much history. There are so many free walking tours of different neighborhoods throughout the city. You can find different tours at https:// freewalkingtour.com and register online. Make sure to leave a tip for your tour guide.

  2. Field Day – Field Day is a yearly outdoor music festival in London. Erykah Badu was the headliner in 2018. It usually sells out every year.

  3. Black Cultural Archives – This museum’s mission is to record, preserve and celebrate the history of people of African descent in Britain. They have archives, learning spaces, and exhibitions dedicated to black history.

Best Eateries in London:

Nando’s – Nando’s is a cheap chicken spot that is similar to Boston Market. The grille chicken is delicious.

Fish Wing N’ Tings – This is a combination of Trinidadian and Jamaican food. This restaurant is in Brixton a historic Jamaican neighborhood.

Local Chinese food – I enjoyed local Chinese food quite a few times. You can get this from any local place around London.

Sainsbury’s – This is a supermarket – however they have a £5 special for a sandwich, chips or fruit, and drink. This is perfect for budget travelers.

Conclusion:

London is a diverse city with lots to see. Try to make friends to stay with them because London’s accommodations are expensive. Hostels can range from £30 -£40 per night. Transportation is expensive (£35 for one week), once you buy your Oyster transportation keep it. Lastly, try to take advantage of free events London has to offer. For example the Tate Modern has free entry during happy hour. They serve drinks and play music.
